“Our highest endeavor must be to develop free human beings who are able of themselves to impart purpose and direction to their lives. The need for imagination, a sense of truth, and a feeling of responsibility—these three forces are the very nerve of education.” ~Rudolf Steiner

By Catherine Austin Fitts

Earlier this month, T.H.Meyer, founder of Perseus Publishing, joined me in Zurich to record a conversation about Rudolf Steiner.  We will publish this introduction to Steiner and his work this coming week on the Solari Report.

Rudolf Steiner was an Austrian philosopher who founded the spiritual movement anthroposophy as well as establishing Waldorf education, biodynamic agriculture, and anthroposophical medicine.

T.H. Meyer is the author of Rudolf Steiner’s Core Mission: The Birth and Development of Spiritual-Scientific Karma Research and Milestones: In the life of Rudolf Steiner and the Development of Anthroposophy, among many other books.  Meyer also publishes the monthly magazine The Present Age for the advancement of Spiritual Science.  His rich understanding of Steiner and his work and how they relate to building a human society and culture reflects Meyer’s lifetime of study and experience.

Meyer was introduced to me by Ann Watson, who for many years has read Steiner lectures to me while I traveled the North American interstates. You would be amazed if you knew how many thousands of miles I have traveled back and forth across the Northern Great Plains or Southwestern deserts, listening to and digesting Steiner’s philosophy. Thanks to Ann’s love for Steiner, I have been able to work my way through a significant amount of Steiner’s prodigious output.

Ann has recorded Steiner’s great classic The Agriculture Course for the Solari Report, which we will also publish this coming week.  The Agriculture Course was the series of lectures and discussions with which Steiner launched biodynamic farming in 1924.

In Money & Markets this week I will discuss the latest in financial and geopolitical news.

In Let’s Go to the Movies, I will review Australian filmmaker Jennifer Peedom’s 2015 documentary Sherpa. This film tells the story of the Sherpa people of the Himalayas in eastern Nepal and their spiritual and economic relationship with Mount Everest.  The film was made in 2014 when an ice avalanche killed 16 Sherpas who were supporting Mount Everest expeditions. It tells the story of the risks taken by the Sherpas over many decades, of the avalanche and the subsequent events that lead to the cancellation of the 2014 and 2015 climbing seasons.

Talk to you Thursday!

  1. Thanks for the PDF, Catherine because the recording is not good for Thomas. You come out perfect but because of Thomas’ way of talking and expressing himself… he needed a microphone really close to his mouth, I believe.

    As for the Christ and christian comments above… I would just like to suggest that consciousness is much more infinite than all the belief systems and religions in the world… and our “understanding”.
    “A belief is simply a thought I keep thinking”. When one meditates and practices a discipline that OPENS the door to the infinite… one becomes ONE with UNIVERSAL CONSCIOUSNESS and then… it’s an experience one NEVER forget.
    This little body is just a vehicle for a spirit that is so much more unlimited than our mind can ever comprehend.
    So… to talk about Christ or god or buddha or mohamed or anyone mystical is just that: TALK, words.
    Experience is the only way we can REALlLY KNOW. And it’s a UNIQUE experience… No matter how much we write and share about these experiences… they are unique. And so is Christ’s experience unique even if it’s at “higher level or dimensions of consciousness.
    Of course.. searching and asking questions will eventually lead to discovery…
    Knock and it will be open…. Ask and you shall receive….
    LOVE and JOY to Catherine and all community members.

    1. Gabriel:

      One of the reasons I struggle to talk about Christ or angels and demons or other spiritual phenomenon is that my understanding is first and foremost experiential and I don’t know how to communicate that with words. It has to be experienced. The one way I feel I can communicate it is to try to live and act in accordance with what I have experienced so that others can experience it in action. The people I know who can communicate it the most effectively communicate it not by what they say but by how much they are truly in the energy of it.

      1. Catherine, The more I learn, the less I realize what I know. I enjoy and appreciate everything you and your staff have put together on your website. I admire your energy, your mind and your thirst for the truth and willingness to look into every corner.

  2. Hello Catherine;

    I do not know what platform you use for your recordings, but if you’re on a Mac, ‘Levelator’ is a free app that ‘normalizes’ sound levels in your audio files. You set the sound level you want and then everyone’s ‘volume’ comes up to that level. There are other tools on other platforms but I don’t know their names. “Normalization’ is included in all professional and semi-pro audio software.

  3. Hello;

    Steiner books in English – How to Know Higher Worlds. Occult Science. Philosophy of Freedom is a very seriously written philosophical text.

    An excellent and free (Dale, the site owner asks for donations) resource for Steiner’s work in audiobook form, in English:

    IMO, Steiner is one of the deepest thinkers (using that term in the broadest sense) of the 20th Century. He was an incredible sketch artist. Fortunately or unfortunately, his sketches were so good that many of his followers have mistaken them for the everlasting immutable truths. He was an experimentalist first and foremost and if approached in that fashion, ie someone providing suggestions for exploratory pathways, he is much easier to digest.

  4. So now we are following the Occult? Talk about wrong direction. What did Jesus warn about towards theend of te age? Deception,
    My personal favorite is 2 Thessalonians 2:12-13. Wow,

    1. Julia:

      My serious Christian training began in a Pentacostal Church with first year Bible – an important section was having us read what the Vatican and Church of England edited out. So I am not a fundamentalist whatsoever and make it my business to read text that inform our understanding of Christ pre-edit – the Essences, Book of Urantia (modern) and the Pistus Sophia. If you have read Steiner, you know his deep appreciation and interest in Christ and Christianity. I do not consider him to be occult. He is a serious philosopher whose values are in most ways deeply aligned with Christ. In fact, his writings on Christ and Christianity are the parts of his work I most value.

      Hope that helps,

      Catherine

      1. Right. Occult just means hidden. Steiner’s Christianity is one of the most incredible versions (not the best word but it will work) I have ever come across. He uses Occult here to refer to interior states of Being – looking to develop a rigorous Spirituality.

    Will you be posting a .pdf of the Intro to Rudolph Steiner interview? The softness and quality of the recording made it quite difficult to listen to and appreciate the content.
