people in Hong Kong have already been using FPS for years. it’s automatically used whenever money is transferred between different accounts. FPS accounts can be identified/specified by bank account number or mobile phone number.
nobody considers that FPS might morph into CBDC one day, still assuming that FPS won’t have the programmability linked to CBDC development.
so… the loud discussions about CBDC’s are a distraction while the ‘baby’ CBDC is quietly growing/developing in the real world, disguised as FPS.
