Hello ,
I live in the Mountains of Santa Cruz County and there is a plan to request the Obama Administration to designate 5,800 acres of BLM land ( once privately held by Coast Land and Dairies Company ) into the Santa Cruz Redwoods National Monument.
There is a large rally this month of Feb. to gather support .
Where can I find out more information on why this might not be in our best interests.
What does this mean in the “big picture” of more and more land becoming federalized ?
Thanks for your great site and all the important information you share.
Jeannine
I live out west. My wife and I took a drive to the Northern chaparral pines in the Southwest. She commented to me, “why are all the wilderness areas have fences and barbed wire. All the off road gates are locked…” I commented to her when I was a young teenager we could pull off and camp anywhere off the road without fences except those of a private land of a rancher. This is all state or federal land and it is fenced off most of the time.
