[P]eace has disappeared from the European horizon. Moreover, ministers and the media, led by the President of the European Commission, are constantly calling for more war, more arms deliveries, more sanctions, more financial support, more energy austerity, stigmatizing the few voices that dare to call for de-escalation and diplomacy—as traitors.”
~ Guy Mettan, “Ukraine and the Collapse of Western Values” (Oct. 1, 2022)

The war in Ukraine took many of us by surprise, even though the conflict had been brewing for several years in the shadow of NATO, which since the end of the Second World War has never ceased to extend its hold on Europe. It is not ten, twenty, or one hundred years that must be analyzed to understand the context of this perpetual showdown, but one thousand years!

History reveals a thousand years of hostility between the West (heir to the Western Empire) and Russia, heir to Constantinople (Eastern Roman Empire). No one will teach you about this history or these events at school, but they shed a strong light on the events that are now close to us.

In this episode of Via Europa, Swiss journalist and politician Guy Mettan explains how and why we are at the current juncture. The partitioning of the West and the East has been a recurrent goal for some elites. De Gaulle spoke of Europe going from the Atlantic to the Urals (Russian mountain range), which would have made Europe a vast, cultured, shining place. Instead, globalist leaders—whose motto is “divide and conquer”—are pushing for a war in Europe, which can then justify the centralization of power in the hands of a few.

Guy Mettan started at the Tribune de Genève newspaper and was its director and editor-in-chief from 1992 to 1998. In 1997, he cofounded the Geneva Press Club and was its executive director until 2019. Mettan also has been president of the Swiss-Russian Chamber of Commerce since its inception in 2005, was President of the Geneva Section of the Red Cross Switzerland (2006–2014), and served as President of the Grand Council of Geneva and sat for the center there until 2019.

In February 2017, President Vladimir Putin awarded Mettan the Russian medal of the Order of Friendship. While parliamentary regulations prohibit elected officials from receiving decorations from foreign governments, the Grand Council of Geneva authorized him to receive the medal with a 36-35 vote.

Mettan has authored several books, including Creating Russophobia: From the Great Religious Schism to Anti-Putin Hysteria, published in 2017.

  1. It was exceedingly interesting to have learned about the forged testament of Peter the Great.

I had never heard of it before. It is an important missing piece of the big puzzle in trying to understand the 1,0000 year old Russophobia shifting from religion to geopolitics.

In terms of its repercussions it is probably on par with the Protocol of the Elders of Zion in terms of stirring up hatred.

To anyone not allergic to reading subtitles I can highly recommend the documentaries of StarMedia which can be found on YouTube. They are beautifully produced and present history from a Russian perspective. They have a series on the Romanovs and an excellent documentary on the Crimean War, which they call ‘World War Zero’, and it is well worth watching because this war, which is much neglected in the West, set the stage for the bigger world wars that followed.

    1. I never heard of the forged will myself though it was a French creation!!! I think the only thing that is taught about Russia in school is that before the Revolution Russia was a friend of France… ! And no one explains why Napoleon needed to go after Russia. Only Bainville, historian, says why -mainly to circumvent England.

  2. Guy Mettan’s history refresher shines a light on the false excuses for militarization. We need a citizens’ world council to speak truth while the WHO, UN and WEF speak. Another great update from across the Pond.
    Thank You!

  3. Please do The Hidden History of Switzerland about how the Knights Templar asserted sovereignty there in 1260 to escape Europe. The Swiss are not European. Their landscape is filled with Egyptian pharonic architectural symbols and obelisks. How is it they have been able to maintain their neutrality throughout all this time while becoming the leading bankers of the world? How is it their flag resembles The Red Cross and their soldiers guard the Vatican? So many questions! Thank you.

  4. Imagining the industry and technology of Germany partnered with Russia’s natural resources and oil is amazing. How powerful that would be. Thank you.

      1. Well one theory is that Germany had partnered up with the US a long time ago to rule over Europe. Hence the Brexit… partner or servant? Willing or forced? That is the Question.

  5. The Rothschilds financed Napoleon. At some point, Napoleon turned away from Rothschild and then exiled and finally poisoned.
I am reminded of how Russia came to the aid of America during the Revolution by sending their ships to both coasts to block the British ships. The Central Bankers never forgave Russia for that.

    1. Well, if Napoleon was helped for sure by what we call big money now, I don’t think the Rothschild were in. Napoleon surpassed whoever would had backed him. Now according to historian Bainville, the reason Napoleon had to go against European nations up to Russia was to secure the Belgian ports and have access to the sea.
While the anglo-saxons wanted to boycott Napoleon absolutely.

  6. I am of the opinion that this is even older than that, reference the biblical, “King of the North” vs. “King of the South.”
