We’ve recently been witnessing a series of unusual events in France that might indicate change is around the corner. I created this video on May 8th, V-day in France, when we usually celebrate freedom, remembering the end of World War II. Instead, we are still in lockdown although the situation is starting to ease up.
The first event that got my attention is political in nature. Twenty generals and military personnel, most of them retired, published an open letter in which they call on the French government for a change to avoid disintegration of the country. The letter and associated petition went viral. It is the first time members of the French military, even retired members, publicly sounded an alarm as they are supposed to stay politically neutral. At the same time, Philippe de Villiers, who had a career in politics, seems to be making a comeback, publishing books in which he denounces widespread corruption on many levels—EU, NGOs, Soros—and is also advocating for an urgent change.
There is also increased social unrest. It started two years ago with the Yellow Vests movement, followed by lawyers, nurses, police officers, and other professions showing their discontent. Macron at the time called for a big debate. Nothing really happened until Covid hit. The situation has still not been addressed.
Finally, on the cultural level, we are also seeing significant signs that change is in the air. A new song by a famous French actor, Gérard Lanvin, called “Entre le dire et le faire” (Between Words and Action) criticizes and makes fun of the latest three Presidents: Sarkozy, Hollande, and Macron.
Another song, “Danser Encore” by HK Saltimbanks, complains about the lockdowns and the “royal tyranny” imposed on the people. Flashmobs have been taking place in Paris and other cities in France, but also in Belgium and Italy.

Vanessa,
This interview with Phillipe de Villiers where he connects Macron’s rise to the Presidency with Klaus Schwab and the trans-humanism. He really says it all in this interview. He cannot easily be blown off as a conspiracy theorist.

I am concerned about the large number of laws “voted” by a majority of spineless members of parliament that nowdays behave more like children obeying dady’s rules than working for the people. Let’s bear in mind that we are paying for this maquerade. The house of representative has become an administrative registration center where no one shows up and all get paid anyway. The Senate usualy balances these extremenly strange situations, but we have reached such a point lately that last month 5 of the 6 political families present in the Senate united to refuse participating to a confirmation vote of the goverment’ choices. They even made a press meeting to explain they considered impossible to accept that the president and his government use the house of representative and the Senate as a mere administrative procedure. It had never been seen before, Senators of different families gathering for a press release… Our president is immature, and as many men withou any natural authority he spends a lot of time proving “he is the boss”. Unfortunately he isn’t up to the standards needed to rule France. More preoccupying is the law voted two days ago enabeling the extension of the state of “medical emergency” so to say until the end of december 2021 with curfew at 9pm, this means that no political gathering or very few will be held during the coming months since a normal workday for lay men and women ends between 6 and 7:30 it gets very hard to organise anything, add to this the propaganda on TV, the closed bars and restaurants, the ban on gatherings of more thant 6/8 persons and the masks that dull your voice and you end up with no possiblity to camapign for cantonal election or regional election…. There is no freedom left in France. Some layers have started something close to class action (this concept doesn’t exist in France), some others demand that the constitution be respected, some members of parliament and Senators try to bring more order. I bet that in december the situation will be extended again until the presidential 2022 election…There is no debate any more. It has become a dictature. It is a very tense situation. This team was put in place to destroy France, I hope I won’t upset your american patriotism but America and “anglo-saxon” countries dream to get rid of France and Italy , to melt them down in a larger concept of regions, to get some kind of European federation of large regions under the German rule. In France 8 million women are the only adult in charge in what it becomes difficult to call a family. With the “virus” crisis do you think these women will find a new job? No you know how thing usually go: give him the job he has a family to feed… Women are going to pay the costs of these situation. In Italy during the last year, 8 millions people have had to limit themselves to one meal a day….meanwhile Amz, G, and the like see their profit rocket to the sky. Eventhough the guys in charge think people are stupid, most of them understand perfectly well what is going on. I might sound pessimistic, but I don’t see any easy way out. At some point people will get on the street and what we saw for the yellow vests will be considered cute… When a man in cold blood decides to bankrupt a third of the working class he has to be accountable for what did. Let’s hope for the best.
This is why I think the taxation without representation issue is rising to the surface.
Bonjour Vanessa et merci beaucoup! What an interesting piece and thank you for the insight into France.
Loved to hear you tell where you are right now, Quéribus, Peyrepertuse, Carcassone, Abbayé de Fontfroide, such a loevly area full of history. Hope to be able to go there again…
Just wanted to ask if you have any comment/idea on a quote I read about from Pres. Macron: “President Macron said: “Maybe I will not be able to be a candidate, maybe I will have to do things in the last year, the last months, which will be hard because the circumstances will require it and which will make it impossible for me to be a candidate, I do not exclude anything.“ (I got the quote here: https://www.armstrongeconomics.com/international-news/politics/the-common-words-of-politicians-great-reset/)
Best regards from a friendly European neighbour, Dagmar
