“Yeah, We’ll Stone Ya, Yeah Yeah Yeah”
When you talk about the Solari index or popsicle index, this song reflects that meaning for me. In 1964, my friend, Laurel, and I, both 14, were dropped off in front of the Cincinnati Gardens by her mother who went shopping while we went in and watched the Beatles perform live. It was amazing. Girls screamed and fainted everywhere (we picked up the girl standing on the fold up chairs next to us at least three times) and there were times when it was as if there was no noise at all because the screaming was literally deafening. The announcer explained at the beginning of the concert that if anyone left their seats, the concert would be stopped. About half the way through the Beatles, we looked at each other, got down out of our seats and walked up to the mezzanine level and walked close to the stage where we watched the rest of the performance standing next to a guard with a flashlight. This song was the highlight of the performance… I guess in 1964 it was the Beatles index for Laurel and Me.
