I just finished watching the new documentary on Sam Cooke. I will use in Let’s Go to the Movies. It is up on Netflix. What an amazing, gifted man he was. One of my favorites singer/composers. I read Peter Guerlnick’s bio on Cooke when we interviewed Peter. It was so obvious his death was a hit. Amazing the number of talented people who have been assassinated and destroyed.
I’ll look for it. So many very talented black music performers were ripped off financially by the record companies in the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s. I have grown for a greater appreciation of the “blues” since moving to Tennessee, I sense the hardship even in the soil.
