*CAF Note: As municipalities struggle to address their economic problems, the pressure is on to shift valuable land in the commons to private control. Doing so will make the financial problems worse, not better. But the pressure for political contributions and to please the powers that be continues to grow. This example from a beautiful community on Lake Erie is a good example of a community whose economy will be far better off preserving the commons wisely*

To my friends and family,

Dan and I have joined other citizens in Port Clinton trying to save the lakefront for public access. We built a beautiful and informative website 10 days ago and last night we successfully linked FaceBook to the front page. Historically this has been an 18 year battle with a city that thinks development (privatization) will bring economic paradise to our small tourist town. As anyone including you knows… people come to see the water, to see the Lake. Dan and I have joined the fight this go round because it is looking more ominous this time.

Please help us save public waterfront access on Lake Erie which is headed for private condo development. Ohio has 312 miles of shoreline on Lake Erie and only 16% of that shoreline is available to the public … Port Clinton has 1 whole mile of this coveted access and we want to keep it public for you!

If you have a FaceBook account please “Like Us” at http://www.savewaterworkspark.org/

We want to get the numbers up – it makes a really big statement to elected officials.
Please forward to your friends too!
