Recently, I have been getting questions about how I first learned about my home Hickory Valley, Tennessee.

In 1978, after graduating from business school, I decided to ride a bicycle across the country, from Philadelphia to Santa Fe, with lengthy stops to visit along the way in Charleston, South Carolina, Jackson, Tennessee, New Orleans, Louisana, Mountain View, Arkansas and Pampa, Texas.

One of my goals was to meet my Southern relatives, including my cousins who are cotton farmers in Hickory Valley. (More description of that original trip and Hickory Valley here.) Indeed, this trip included my first visit to Hohenwald, Tennessee.

  1. Wonderful. As an ex-athlete and now coach i am fascinated by Sri Chinmoy’s inclusion of ultra-long distance running in his approach.
