I subscribe to The Kiplinger Letter. Among other things, I find it a predictor of the “official story” combined with a useful flow of tax and regulatory information.

This week, Kiplinger describes the ravaged retirement savings of Americans and then points out that the government will not be able to help with “Social Security likely facing cuts in benefits.”

I used to have a Washington reporter who worked for my last company. She called that “burying the lead.”

  1. This morning on 103.5 the FOX in Denver I started listening to an interview with someone who perhaps wss with the auto dealers asscociation. His name might have been Bruce Rich, but unforutnately I started listening sometime after the interviwe began.

One of the things he mentioned was about Chrysler closing down almost 800 dealerships and how they gave these dealers perhaps a couple of weeks to liquidate their inventory ,but now they are reopening those dealerships, only they have been awarded to someone else.

Does anyone know anything about this? It seems somewhat hypocritical.

Further he was saked about the car czar. He mentioned that his knowledge of the auto industry amounted to dropping off his car to get an oil change. Of course that shouldn’t surpirse anyone since his job was to ransach and pillage the pension plan for the perferred walls treet criminals
