It is called “crossover” when an artist or music genre appeals to different types of audiences. Adele—deservedly acclaimed as one of today’s great vocalists—is definitely a crossover artist.
Concerts of the multi-award-winning singer-songwriter sell out within mere minutes, and just the YouTube views of her songs alone go into the billions. Her music generates $1.5 million a day for the music industry. A 2017 concert at Wembley Stadium had almost 100,000 in attendance.
At age 21, Adele’s second album, titled 21, became an international sensation, and “Rolling in the Deep,” written by Adele and Paul Epworth, was its first single to be released (in 2010).
