Prayer and song are so important at this time. Much of the news and information we are confronted with can become depressing and cheerless. Thinking of the presence of the Divine in our lives and experiencing gratitude for all its gifts can bring us back to mental and emotional sanity.

The Blessing refers to an actual power of blessing that God transfers to Aaron, the high priest, to bestow upon the people (Numbers 6:24). Known as Birkat Kohanim, it is still used in this form in both the Judaic and Christian liturgical traditions.

May we take courage and find peace in knowing our lives and the lives of our children are indeed blessed by the Most High.
