When I am in Philadelphia, I am going to catch up with and interview Paul Glover, founder of the Ithica Hours community currency.

I thought I would collect up links of interest on local and community currencies as well as barter systems. My hope is that the opportunities to use local mechanisms to improve financial liquidity are growing.

If you have links you recommend, please post.

  1. Catherine,

What about reaching out to the founders of Berk Shares? They developed a successful local currency in Pitman, Massachusetts where banks would exchange Berk Shares for dollars and a lot of independent businesses accepted them.

Also, Charles Hugh Smith has a great idea about a labor-backed community crypto-currency. I tried to crowdfund this idea on Kickstarter with zero backers, unfortunately.
