We are once again recommending this uplifting 1946 Frank Capra production—one of our favorite Christmas movies—during this season. Inspired by a story that itself was loosely based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, the film tells the magical story of how one man’s good deeds can have such lasting ramifications on the lives of others that all the fame and recognition the world can muster no longer count. In essence, George (James Stewart) Bailey’s little local bank and loan company is protecting a whole community from investment predators. And yet, there is so much more that contributes to the wealth and well-being of the town.

It is a beautiful story about how doing what is right and true, even if it remains invisible, is infinitely more impactful than any glorious deed witnessed and envied by thousands.
