This 2005 movie directed by Christian Carion shows how the spirit of Christmas can transform people and create miracles. In the trenches of WWI on Christmas Eve 1914, the horrors of war give way to camaraderie among soldiers who otherwise are fighting against each other.
May the spirit of Christmas transform our hearts.

Yep.
More importantly, after the War’s end, my Grandfather explained that the soldiers on both sides vacated the trenches and hugged and spoke to one another, finding out who they were and where they were from in Europe. It always had an impact on him that hours before shots were being fired to kill and after that decree, opposite sides were embracing.
That is the power of Mr. Global.
This occurred in different parts of Europe during WWI at Christmas. My grandfather fought in WWI. When I was a child, he explained that on Christmas, soldiers from both sides emerged from their trenches and drank together as supported by their superiors. The next day, fighting resumed. He told me other stories of trench warfare…fighting in that fashion was beyond inhumane. Up on the Stelvio Pass in Northeastern Italy, items from WWI are still unearthed in the endless trenches that remain there. Keep in mind, in the White War, 1915-1919, when Italy sent troops up along the Northeastern front, at least 750,000 Italian soldiers died.
