Considered one of the greatest movies of all time and a favorite Christmas movie for many, this heartwarming and inspiring 1946 masterpiece by Frank Capra shows how the actions of one good person can change the world forever—a perfect reminder of what we can do in these times. The movie features James (“Jimmy”) Stewart and Donna Reed. It was restored in 4K resolution in 2017.

This was Capra’s favorite film that he directed. It was also Jimmy Stewart’s favorite. In 1990, the film was designated as “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” and added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress.

    2. Hi Alison,

It’s a Wonderful Life was recently played on the USA channel. If you happen to be an Amazon Prime member, you can watch it as one of the included films on Prime Video. There is the original black and white and color version as well.

Other than that just keep an eye out for those channels that are focusing on Christmas related movies this time of year, I have no doubt that like the USA channel, they will eventually play this wonderful classic.

  2. “A Christmas Carol” and “It’s A Wonderful Life” – love them both with their powerful messages of Christmas.
