  1. I gave up Wi-Fi in my home in June. Experimenting with a break. I’m calling it my, “Not Girl Summer”. So far, I have made new connections with neighbors, play with my puppy 50% more, am learning a Christmas Hymn in Latin which I hope to perform somewhere by Dec. and I’m landscaping my own yard instead of paying the guy $10000, which also resulted in that I quit my gym membership because I am literally, “working out-side” , and no longer need it. Eliminating the option to get lost online (even if it’s mostly “educational”), is making me seek other things to do of course. There are some things I need to do online so I go to the Library, where I also made a few new connections. There is a company coming to my area soon with hard-wired internet, and I’ll probably get it. For now, I enjoy the results. Life somehow feels more like back in childhood pre internet. Slower. More peaceful.
    PS: Great Country we’ve got here: here’s to maintaining it’s core values.

    1. Just hope it’s not Xfinity / Comcast. Poor customer service. Everything is YOUR fault, until proven otherwise. Guy came to check my connection. “You’ve got a dead line.” That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you for 3 weeks. “OK. I’ll take the service call charge off your bill.” Yes, they charged me as soon as he arrived. Climbed the pole and found me and my neighbor were disconnected, probably from when another neighbor had moved out of our townhome community and they disconnected him. So let’s disconnect all 3 even though 2 are still paying. Oh, and I never got credit back for those 3 weeks. That was Sept. I dropped them that Dec. 5 years ago. I use my phone’s hotspot now or take my laptop to library to use their wi-fi. Also, Comcast owns NBC TV.

        1. Thanks. I never heard of them. I looked at their website and see they are only in Tennessee, west of the Tennessee River. I was hoping they might be an alternative for me. But, alas, not available in North Louisiana.

    1. Happy Fourth Jennifer. I really enjoyed the Financial Rebellion segment you spearheaded regarding the “Medical Grid”. Appreciated the good reference materials that you presented. Had many years in the insurance industry and found your reporting very interesting relative to today’s health care scene…or lack there of. Recently had to have major surgery on an outpatient basis, Survived and did not get transfused. I am still thanking God for that but made my feelings very clear on that potential necessity with the medical staff going in. It pays to let them know your sentiments and I let them have mine with a double barrel! Keep up the good work!

  3. For the 4th of July, I spent some time researching a small community bank, to gain the freedom of moving my banking away from big banks.

    As for television, I never replaced my analog television when things went digital – don’t miss it at all. There’s plenty of quality content in the new media, including Solari!

I just drove Xcountry and if the amount of fireworks building up to and on on the eve of the 4th was any indication (even in my folks mostly Dem part of Connecticut) there seems to be an inspired amount of USA pride going on. Granted, I avoided big cities, but there were so many Trump signs with flags still up along the highways and only one Biden in 3500 miles. Perhaps a decent percentage of people have learned to ignore the propaganda/entrainment coming out of their TVs, Soviet style

    It seems so relevant – please let me quote: He (the king of England) has abdicated government here, by declaring us out of his protection, and waging war against us.
    He has plundered our seas, ravaged our coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people. He is at this time transporting large armies of foreign mercenaries to complete the works of death, resolution, and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of cruelty and perfidy, scarcely paralled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the head of a civilized nation.

      1. Clearly, broadcast is dying. Lots of grumbling about COVID restrictions. Mistrust of government is widespread and the destruction of property is not going over at all. In fact, almost everyone seems armed and ready to fight it out. Giant misplay by the left.

      3. My grandfather was one of the pioneers in the invention of television. When he retired, his employer gave him a TV receiver. He hated it. Especially the Ed Sullivan Show and Howdy Doody. He did like the baseball games and the Sherlock Holmes stories.

        I had a TV in my life, but got rid of in in 1961. When I bought my house, the former owner left a console TV in it. I got help carrying it out to the street for big-junk day sometime in 1976.
