This week, Thomas Meyer returns to help us place current events in their broader historical context. The interview was filmed in Thomas’s garden, where his pink magnolia tree was in full blossom.

Thomas traces the parallels between the lead-up to World War I and events contributing to the present Russia-Ukraine conflict. He also revisits Rudolf Steiner’s idea of a Threefold Social Order encompassing three central domains of human social activity: the economic, legal, and cultural. Steiner’s vision was of a society structured so that each of these domains could enjoy independence and autonomy from the other.

To understand the parallels between current events in Ukraine and World War I, Thomas recommends Hidden History: The Secret Origins of the First World War by Scottish historians Gerry Docherty and Jim MacGregor, a book that highlights, in Thomas’s words, the “intrigues, tricks, and deceptions” that British elites used to draw a reluctant Germany into war. The Scottish press roundly ignored the book’s publication in 2014, just as the old media now fail to mention U.S. and NATO aggression in crossing Russia’s clear “line in the sand” in Ukraine.

In both centuries, Western elites have been committed to preventing Germany and Russia from combining forces. The West’s dread of a German-Russian cultural and industrial juggernaut came across loud and clear when NATO’s first secretary-general, Lord Ismay, was asked why NATO was needed: “To keep the Soviet Union out, the Americans in, and the Germans down.” (Thomas points out that NATO is shameless enough to still feature this quote on its website.) In more recent times, geopolitical forecaster George Friedman has asserted that German-Russian collaboration would pose an existential threat to the U.S.

In Part 2 of the interview—accessible to Solari subscribers only (Part I has been published seperately as a public Solari Report)—Thomas discusses the pivotal historical role and spiritual journey of Helmuth von Moltke, who served as Chief of the Great German General Staff in the early part of World War I, until the Kaiser dismissed him after the Battle of the Marne. Moltke’s extensive correspondence and communications with Rudolf Steiner provide revealing insights on hidden causes of WWI that are still relevant today.

As a curious historical coincidence, Putin’s KGB office during his sojourn in Dresden (then part of East Germany) in the 1980s also served at one time as the headquarters of the German Anthroposophical Society. Thomas notes that Putin “knows more about German culture than most current German politicians.”

  1. This was one of the most insightful and spiritual explanations of what indeed is going on, and that we need this transformation in order to come out on the other side. I have watched a couple of documentaries by Oliver Stone about Putin and the Ukrainian history. This goes so much deeper. I bought a few of the books suggested, as I found this idea of a three fold social order so intriguing, and this could be our way out. I am most interested in Steiner having conversations, of sort, with Moltke. A beautiful way out of global tyranny. I love you Thomas! You have presented another fabulously done insight to our history, our wholeness, and a path to another side, way more promising than the global elites plan for us.   3. Rudolf Steiner on the First World War (1914-1918)

    “I have already told you that in certain secret brotherhoods in the West – I have proof of this – as early as 1890 there was talk of the present (First World) war. The pupils of these brotherhoods were taught by means of maps showing how Europe would be changed by this world war. Especially the English fraternities spoke of a war that would take place – a war that would be led and well prepared.”

    1. In 1917 Rudolf Steiner gave a lecture on our current era, the fifth post-Atlantean era, as he calls it. In this era man learns to develop his consciousness soul. However, there are forces that want to make man stumble and fall. The Freemasons want to establish a One World Government, following the Roman example.

      For growth you need an antipode, that the Freemasons are aware of. Russia is the antipode needed to establish the One World Government. And you should not think of One World “Nation”, but of the Great Industrial Complex that governs all world affairs.

  4. Enjoyed Thomas Meyer’s enlightened discussion that gave me a “40,000 foot” understanding of the Russia/German/Slav connection. Great explanation of “The Three Fold Memorandum”. I’ve read Margaret MacMillan’s “The War That Ended Peace-The Road to 1914”. I’ll order Gerry Docherty and Jim Macgregor’s “Hidden History-The Secret Origins of WW1. That will add to an in depth understanding of Europe during and after WW1.

    1. If you have an interest in Anthony Sutton and Skull & Bones, you might be interested in the source for Sutton’s book–Charlotte Iserbyt. The abbreviated version–Charlotte’s dad was a member of the order, but she spent much of her life exposing the system. When her dad received by mail books listing the living and deceased members of S&B, she passed these volumes over to Sutton, where they served as the source for his work.

      Charlotte also was a giant in exposing the educational agenda. She passed away on February 8 at age 91, and Solari had her as the Hero of the Week on February 21.

  7. The illumination Mr. Meyer shares is timely and important … documenting evidence of the “invisible elites” are in fact deliberately seeking a global reality shaped by the powers of darkness. The good news is that this evil and its many “soulless” servitors, as Mr. Meyer describes them, are being resisted every day by men and women who live a spiritual, biblical reality as they go about their lives. Good will triumph through the coming trouble.

  10. I am so, so glad Thomas Meyer highlights this book; it is remarkable to say the least. James Corbett made mention of it a year ago as one of THE most important books about WWI so I immediately bought it. I have considered it many times since. Watching what has been happening as Putin has warned the US and NATO so many times what could/would happen if they did not stop pursuing their murderous plans. I so love listening to Thomas with his insights about the world and beyond.

  14. Thank you for another magnificent presentation by Thomas Meyer. His larger historical and spiritual perspective brings such coherence and clarity to our world situation, illuminating realities I have failed to comprehend during my sixty five years on earth. Of course it’s painful to acknowledge the evil done in the name of American foreign policy and to grapple with one’s own guilt as one of millions of stupid and stupefied Americans who have allowed all this to happen. I would love to hear Thomas talk more about what he thinks might be the karma of the American people in all of this.

    I would love to know the name of the artist in the painting behind you in the Thomas Meyer interview on the launch of the spiritual Science Academy. I believe it is
    archangel Michael. Any information would be helpful. I am beyond grateful for your brilliant light and clarity.

    1. It is a tapestry reproduction of Franz Anton Maulbertsch — Gideon Sketch for a fresco (1796) from the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest. I have one and I also had one made for Thomas and his wife Orsolya as a Christmas present in 2020. Orsolya had discovered it earlier that year – she is Hungarian as was the artist. The original was destroyed and a reproduction hangs in the museum in Budapest, Hungary. The tapestry hangs in my office and also hangs in the Meyer’s living room.
