For the first time since the Second World War vegetables are being grown in the Palace’s grounds alongside ornamental plants.

The move comes amid a surge in demand from people up and down the country to have their own allotment to grow their own food during the recession.

The Queen’s organic vegetable patch is about 10 yards by eight yards in size. It is at the rear of the garden in an area which is called the Yard Bed.

  1. bert, i quite agree…time to dust off the old manuscript…and essay 🙂

  2. PermaculturePrana, I don’t think we’ll ever know the full story with Kaz and the manifesto. But as you say, the main concept is right on point.

  3. bert, thanks for the head’s up. i’ve read the latter’s manifesto, though had always wondered whether it had extra stuff added in (some of the ethnocentricism, racism, and whatnot, from what i recall) to discredit his main ideas. but i found many of his ideas pretty dead on (and was also reading a lot of Neil Postman at the time, and so many of their views were similar, it was interesting).

    but thanks for the suggestions.

  4. i HOPE they can’t pull it off, but am very concerned they can. they play the game w/a long-range view. i mean, dr. nicholas murray butler told the world in 1914 tht the United states of europe (read: EU) was a foregone conclusion and no one could do anything to stop it. it took them some nearly 80 years to pull it off, but they did.

i was just talking the other day about their forcing this 2-tier society. but you talk about all the latest technology, and I have to ask, is their technology really all that great? or will that very technology itself lead to their demise? I guess I need clarification on what the technologies are, more specifically. but intermediate and lower technologies are more than successful in navigating human adaptation and survival, so unless they complicate matters by making conditions unbearable, the lower “tier”ed classes should be able to survive (albeit in the neo-feudal system described above).

  5. why not?
I do agree with you, though. ne thing that is very different now, is that investors from other countries own properties everywhere. so, the old “nationalize everything” won’t work well. UK is as broke as the US. the US doesn’t really dare antagonize those who hold our debts.

  6. First the White House plants and promotes its veggie garden, now the Queen has one.

So, what are these nice ladies doing (Michelle Obama & The Queen)…. well they are sending the public a psychological message that we are entering a two-tier system, where the masses will be forced into neo-feudalism, living in a plantation society where we survive off their land and exist under their rule, posing no future threat to their dominance, with rudimentary technology at our disposal. While the elite, and their small cadre of technocrats live in metropolitan habitat zones with the latest technology and unlimited resources.

Don’t buy what I’m saying, then just read the United Nation’s Agenda 21. If you can read through their sophistry, you will see that their intentions are out in the open. Or, if you want to take a short cut, just watch the movie Code 46 with Tim Robbins, as that pretty much shows-off their dreams.

But I for one don’t believe they can pull it off.
