“Fasting also stimulates autophagy and mitophagy, the process of culling the old, dysfunctional mitochondria. So the ancient wellness practice of intermittent fasting essentially gets rid of the old mitochondria and at the same time stimulates new growth. This process of renewing your mitochondria may play a huge role in the prevention of many of the diseases we currently have no acceptable treatment – diseases of excess growth.” ~ Dr. Jason Fung

A subscriber recently sent me a link to Dr. Jason Fung’s video series on obesity. I watched it. Impressed, I posted it on the Solari Report website.

My next step was to order Dr. Fung’s book on Fasting: The Complete Guide to Fasting: Heal Your Body Through Intermittent, Alternate-Day, and Extended Fasting co-authored with health writer Jimmy Moore.

The book arrived two weeks ago. I was on my way into the Jacuzzi right before going to sleep that evening. I decided I would just read the first chapter in the the bubble bath. It turned into a late night as I could not put the book down. The next morning I started intermittent fasting.

I first tried fasting when I studied spiritual warfare. It was a successful experience. However, I had some challenges fasting while I was working. Dr. Fung addressed all of these issues and more. Best of all, I get to eat five of my favorite foods – bone broth, coffee, tea, cinnamon and lemons in my water.

This is one of the most impressive books on health I have read to date. It is professionally organized and produced. It covers the science in detail in a manner that a lay person can understand. And it is filled with practical advice and case studies for busy people who have to function in the real world.

If you want to be healthy in a modern world, let alone engage successfully in spiritual warfare, this book is for you.
