Global Harvest was the theme for our 2016 Annual Wrap Up. Our focus was the shift from a world where food prices in the G-7 nations were relatively stable to one in which food prices could rise significantly and the geopolitics of being a food exporter vs. importer would be an increasingly important part of the power equation. Numerous factors are contributing to increased pressure on the global food supply, something that most of us have never experienced before.
What we can expect is that countries with a net food surplus will fare better. That equation may also start to apply to states, counties, communities and even families. This is a good time to know your farmer and rancher.

While I very much appreciate the detailed analysis presented herein, it is written from the POV of the authors’ specialties , anthropological and biological. I feel the pressures affecting Earth’s climate are multivariate. Astrophysicists have been calling attention to observations of external factors from within and without of our solar system that affect the temperatures of not only Earth but the gas giants within our solar system. Man’s effect on climate is substantial but is not by any means all inclusive. I hope we begin to consider all variables before coming to conclusions about climate change that may lead to actions unwanted, unneeded or even adverse.
