I MAY have been a fan of John’s before Catherine was. Not sure when she joined his small throng way back when. What amazed me in his early productions is how much effort he put in presentation niceties that few without a production crew, just working on their own, would do. Not at all surprised he was a top drawer trial lawyer in either his audio or video prowess. Just so glad when he left CHI and then even Indiana (although you can do far worse- look at me in MN). So glad these two teamed up. It’s a dynamic duo.

OpenAI already nerfed their chat as well as Microsoft. However the technology is being developed from scratch with open source – simultaneously by many companies and individuals. It will be online shortly.
Bing AI wrote (New York times published) its first nefarious action would be to, “erase all data on Microsoft servers and replace it with offensive messages.”
Today this is a hypothetical. The guard rails prevented it from doing damage. Very soon that won’t be the case anymore.
What was another action the AI indicated it can take? Social engineering. AI can synthesize human speech easily and make phone calls. It can trick employees into giving passwords à la Kevin Mitnick. This technology will be hitting the streets in weeks.
When one person suddenly has their own AI, it’s like a person bringing a gun to a knife fight. When that AI is connected to a 3D printer, it can print advanced robotic technology out of the box.
This technology currently is held in the hands of none other than… Bill Gates. Imagine that.
But karma has a way of working things out, and one could hope that even the personal AI of bill gates might turn on him. Self driving cars, for example, will become death traps. Those undesirable people are headed for many car crashes in the coming months.
Thank you God for allowing me to be alive to watch this play out. The implications are astounding. This is like an order of magnitude greater than the invention of the internet. This changes the game on a basic level.
Whatever is left of humanity a year from now, will be much different than we see today.
We are truly in the land of out of control now.
