As this week’s Blast from the Past, we are making the 3rd Quarter 2020 Wrap Up and its web presentation accessible to the public. Visions of Freedom is a beautiful publication by our Culture Scout Nina Heyn showcasing masterpieces and paintings about freedom and the perennial struggle for independence and a free and inspired life.
Two of the paintings highlighted (in the section titled “Food for the Soul: Gideon’s River Test”) are dynamic portraits of the biblical figure Gideon, one by the Dutch artist Maerten van Heemskerck, and the second by Franz Anton Maulbertsch—which is the painting that viewers and subscribers can see behind Catherine in weekly Solari Reports.
Gideon is one of Catherine’s favorite stories from the Bible, describing the seemingly impossible feat of Gideon who leads an army of but 300 men to win against the Midianites. God wanted only those who were both faithful and competent. If we all stay focused, do our best, and keep our faith, we can win this fight!
