How do we make the best decisions and manage risk in the most difficult times of life?
This Blast from the Past is a not-to-be-missed conversation that Catherine held in 2009 with Laurence Gonzales, author of Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why and Surviving Survival: The Art and Science of Resilience. His books are used as learning tools by groups as diverse as the Navy SEALs and MIT, and and hold essential lessons for each one of us today.
Thanks for this book recommend Catherine! I just finished it, and absolutely loved it. I let myself sacrifice a paperback, and gave into the impulse for highlighting so many passages. I gained new insight into personality types and behaviors I’ve curiously observed but not understood, risk / reward calculations, the critical balance between emotion and reason, the constant opportunity to evaluate and learn from our mistakes. Most of all the unequivocal importance of “know thyself”. Although the examples provided were outdoor and nature oriented, I found it very easy to extrapolate to other types of crises, such as what we are facing now, with our personal world(s) and relationships in such upheaval and disarray.
can i access the interview also via app or only laptop/ computer?
thanks BR
Try clicking on the words “Blast from the Past” in the second paragraph. The hyperlink doesn’t seem to be highlighted in the app but it should work.
Recognizing that something is really happening and taking action is so important. The WHO is trying to enact a Pandemic Treaty that will give it powers over governments and people to declare pandemics and dictate actions unilaterally. World Health Assembly is meeting in late May to pass elements of this treaty and no one in our government has done or said anything. World Council of Health is an organization that has been formed to oppose this. According to James Roguski substack, the Pandemic Treaty can be passed WITHOUT Congressional approval if the the US’s UN representatives are OK with the submitted text of the treaty as a result of a 2005 law Congress passed that ceded certain authorities to the UN. This loop hole is now being exploited to slip this treaty through without any knowledge of we the people. Please review James Roguski’s substack and include it in your Money & Markets overview. We need to get the word out if this is in fact what is happening.
Very interesting interview. A few difficult circumstances that I have found myself in have been dealt with by keeping in mind: Yes this is REALLY happening, just deal with it. And solutions arise. Staying calm, creating a plan, and envisioning how you get out of the situation is most important. Some luck and adrenaline can help too!
