  1. Hi Catherine,

I have an opportunity to pay off a 2.75% mortgage ($380K). The money is currently earning about 4.5% interest in a Fidelity Money Market Account. I’m leaning toward paying off the mortgage but my husband is not particularly happy with the idea. Thoughts? Thank you!

  2. Prager U is not an alt-right Christian organization, as Carolyn mistakenly refers to it, at the 55:50 portion of the “Ask Catherine” podcast. Prager U is founded by Dennis Prager, who is Jewish.

If you go to this link –

    https://www.prageru.com/video/the-middle-east-problem

    – you will see a five-minute video in which Dennis Prager gives the most unsubtle Zionist propaganda talk imaginable.

A sample of the description of that particular video‘s content:

“The Middle East conflict is framed as one of the most complex problems in the world. But, in reality, it’s very simple. Israelis want to live in peace and are willing to accept a neighboring Palestinian state. And most Palestinians do not want Israel to exist. As Dennis Prager explains, this is really all you need to know.”(!)

“Newsguard”, which I am not familiar with, may not be objective in their statements. But a glance at “Prager U” shows that it, too, is far from objective, and it is not Christian. It does at times, try to affect a Christian-friendly image.

Titles of other videos available for viewing on the Prager U website:

“If you hate Israel, you’re no friend of the Jews”
“Israel: the world’s most moral army”

    You get the drift.

    1. Thanks, Frank. I know little about them other posting an occasional video that subscribers send -which are usually pretty good.

  3. I heard you say on MONEY AND MARKETS that you were planning to return to the US to connect like minded people. I found my tribe at http://www.makeamericansfreeagain.com (MAFA). It is a national, non- political organization which was created to fight medical tyranny.
I started a local group north of Boston in late 2020; other people started groups in the surrounding area. We have regular meetings as it is best to meet people in person; we evolved from discussing the issues regarding the COVID shots and helping people get exemptions to the mandates, to creating our own parallel society. We know our farmers and/or have learned to grow food, preserve food, share resources regarding financial planning in these crazy times, to forage for food, to bank at small institutions, use cash etc. Many members subscribe to Solari so we use your information as well as that provided by MAFA.
I have met wonderful, supportive people that I know I can call on if necessary. They also know they may call on me.
I highly recommend that subscribers find their local MAFA group or start their own.

    1. Great idea. Thank you for posting. MAFA, CHD, Weston Price, JBS – lots of good groups percolating.

  4. Catherine, I want to plug Dana White for Hero Of The Week, because of this:

The UFC is increasingly showing itself as a stronghold against the tyranny and madness. Joe Rogan is the legendary principle UFC commentator, who has the biggest podcast in the world, and during the pandemic featured Robert Malone and Peter McCullough on it, and promoted Ivermectine, several UFC fighters have spoken out against the grooming of children and satanism in the ring after their fights, and Dana has also spoken out against mandatory vaxxing. These fighter guys are not having it, and Dana is their leader. He deserves it.

      1. Awesome. I forgot to mention that the influence of the UFC is massive, both domestically and internationally. I think MMA is by far the fastest growing sport in the world and they are by far the market leader. The value of the UFC keeps growing exponentially year after year, and they intrinsically promote being a man who stands up for himself and can fight, and doesn’t take BS. Apart from being an absolutely brilliant business man, Dana White has nearly 7 million followers on X and 8.5 million on Instagram, he always speaks his mind, and is a true American patriot, as he showed once again in that podcast. The podcast where the clips are from was watched 2,2 million times in 6 days, and the clips a multitude of that, and last week Dana walked into a sold out Madison Square Garden together with Trump, who he is personal friends with, and Tucker Carlson, and the place exploded. Him and the UFC are really very important in the whole thing.

        1. Need to figure out how to warn the readers about the liberal use of the F word. Sounded like the trading floor at Dillon Read on a bad day.

          1. I get it. Just like the guy who was speaking about SBF in the latest Money & Markets.

Maybe the formula could be something like: ‘He may curse too much for you, of which I am aware and for which I apologize, but I have chosen to show it to you anyway, because of his general attitude of unapologetically standing his ground on a crucial issue as a very public person, namely the CEO of the absolute market leader of the fastest growing sport in the world, who is followed by more than 15 million people on social media, making him a very influential person in the discussion, and as such an example of how one can stand up for oneself for what’s right on a smaller scale and podium as well. Given the importance of the issue, I have chosen to show it to you, in spite of the language. Again, my apologies, but please focus on the bigger picture and the underlying message of ‘My human and American freedoms are not for sale at any price’. That is a crucial attitude, that the more people have it, the sooner the global coup d’etat from Mr Global is over, because we then kill the beast by starvation.’

And here is a clip of the very popular ex-UFC champion Holly Holm, after her latest fight telling the public: ‘We need to protect the children against the sexualization of them’. Starting at 2:27.

          2. Amen to that. I’m somewhat used to it having been in manufacturing for 35 years. Used “forking” some myself in discussions during intense situations. However, it seems to be more pervasive now, being used in almost every sentence as casual conversation.

  5. HOMESCHOOLING INFO FROM JEN:
I homeschool in Los Angeles, CA. I have a lot of experience, been doing it for years with my boys. I found a ton of resources from CHN California Homeschool Network and HSLDA Homeschool Legal Defense Association.
The latter is national and they have a TN specific page as well as CA and all the states for important rules & how-to’s.
Surprisingly, CA is very low regulation when it comes to homeschooling. TN is also low reg. Below my info I will list the links from these websites that explain it all. Feel free to contact me thru Solari to get more info if needed.

Here are the basics for Homeschooling in CA:
You have 3 ways to homeschool.
    1) Homeschool as a home based private school
    2) Homeschool with a private school with a satellite program (PSP)
    3) Homeschooling via instruction by a private tutor

We chose to go the home based private school way.
1)file an annual private school affidavit online from the CA Dept of Education website every October, but you can file anytime. It’s just a filing. It’s fun you can create your own school name and make yourself the principal. ; ) I liked that part.

    2)Maintain attendance register

    3) must instruct in english

    4) Instructors must be capable of teaching, but there isn’t any degree or license or cert required.

    5) Provide instruction in the courses commonly taught in public schools like math, language arts, science, social studies, health and drivers training. (we are doing the Drivers Ed right now for our oldest, he is so much more disciplined than I was in that course! I ended up getting a C in the class due to checking my lipstick in the mirror as I adjusted it for safety. lol

    6) Maintain immunization records or personal belief exemptions. You do not need to be vaccinated for homeschool, although they keep trying to push that for sure. The homeschool lobby is strong out here. We keep personal belief exemptions on file. There are forms you can download that have that exemption on them, just fill it out and file it. Have it on hand.

    7) Maintain a list of courses

    8) Maintain a list of instructors with addresses and qualifications. I just put in my resume. When my Mama was alive, she passed in 2019, I put her high school diploma on file. She taught math courses for us.

The CHN group and HSLDA have all this info for you. Each group has a membership fee. I like the local groups for obvious reasons but I make sure to join the HSLDA because they will help with any legal issues. If something happens and we need legal advice about homeschool stuff, we can call them day or night.

HSLDA has local group listings and there are a lot of groups on Facebook as well. Since covid the homeschooling communities have exploded, you will find a ton of groups with meet-ups and study groups a lot easier now.

As far a courses, we use books, paper and pencils.
Here is where I buy our books:
    https://www.aop.com/
we use the Lifepac and Horizons courses.

I almost forgot, I found Hip Homeschooling Moms to be a wonderful resource for curriculum, tips&tricks and other homeschool insights:
    https://hiphomeschoolmoms.com/

I don’t have a lot of personal homeschooling friends out here with kids my age but I do know of a lot in Northern California. Since our oldest is vaccine injured we are usually on our own when it comes to playgroups. We don’t get invited to any parties. It is getting easier the more he heals and the older he gets. Socializing is easy with sports, music lessons and church.

    Here are the links:

  6. Re your interview with Dr. Mercola–great job. I realized that when you were talking about the potential for the internet to go down for a protracted amount of time, it behooves us all to have enough cash to get through what will be a national and potentially local crisis. I know this is singing to the choir, but the necessity for self-sufficiency grows!

Dr. Mercola suggested getting a cell phone company that is independent of the internet. Is there a list of providers? And if you have a landline off of buried cable, will landline phone service be compromised as well?

Probably because of my age, I view the internet like an appliance. All I want to do is plug it in and let it run for 15-20 years. Consequently, I am not technologically proficient, and it is very difficult to keep up with the all updates, which seem to happen more and more frequently, often necessitating a call to my IT tech. ($$)

The latest privacy updates that were installed make it difficult to reach Solari, CHD, and other sites I think are especially valuable, flashing messages that I am about to enter a dangerous site and prevent me from doing so without switching to another browser with less privacy. I am old enough to decide for myself which sites provide accurate and valuable information for me!

It seems to me that a basic internet “appliance” type service that you install and forget about would be a boon to humanity. Is there one available? I can only imagine that it would be hugely profitable.

  7. Another new insurance scam…

During my 50 years of home ownership I have filed two claims on my homeowner’s insurance–both weather related and within the last 4 years. This year the insurance on my 1350 square foot home (3 BD, 1 bath) went up to over $4,000.

When I sought a more competitive quote, I was told that because the last one was over $25,000 [it was $28K), it was classified as a “catastrophic claim”. Therefore I could not apply for new insurance from another company for two more years, I lost all discounts, including one for annual prepayment, and I “better keep quiet and keep what I have, regardless of the cost.” My credit scores are not the problem–I am above 800, and rated exceptional…

The repair costs (materials, delivery delays, etc) almost doubled the previous cost just three years ago due to inflation, manufacturers deliveries, etc during Covid. The new cost of insurance takes inflation into account with higher replacement values, and thus higher premiums.

BUT, here’s the scam…the $25,000 catastrophic claim threshold has not been adjusted for inflation. So they maximize your values to obtain the highest possible replacement values upfront, and then hit you again by not adjusting the catastrophic claim amount, to keep up with inflation.

The insurance industry has a great deal. They charge you for insurance, but if you use it, they find multiple ways of penalizing you, over and above their original quotes. Of course I have written the Insurance Commissioner of my state, but this is an industry-wide problem. The more who speak up, the better.

    1. This happens with all insurance. For health insurance for example the premiums go up with inflation, but the claiming limits/caps still remain the same, therefore less value for money every year.
