I was on Active Duty Special Works in the AZARNG JCNTF (Counter Narcotics) during this time period. 6-9 mos prior to Webb’s stories being published there was scuttlebutt of AF / CIA assets smuggling drugs into SC LA.. Frank Zappa was quoted at the `77 Austin “Bongo Fury” Concert “Dope is a plot by the Government to keep young people stupid and w/o ambition.” Boy was he ahead of his time.
