The days of getting lost in the art museum or mall might be drawing to a close. So, too, might the universal experience of forgetting where you parked your car and stomping around angrily, then hopelessly, through floor upon floor of multistory garage.

Last November, Google unveiled indoor navigation through its Android mapping app, allowing users to see their location and a building’s floorplan for a number of places around the world. That service is expanding and other groups are working on locating you when a roof blocks the GPS signal.
