Hello Awesome Solari People,
On question 6 there is no answer. What is the answer to a texting app? Here is the question number 6: “… I was wondering if you could recommend a texting app that is more private than
google. I recently had to get a new phone and the texting is a Google app. I have
Signal, but that only applies to others that also have the Signal app…”
Only this is there: CAB/Team Notes & Links:
Thank you so much!

It is possible to selectively clear cookies to remain logged in at sites you trust (i.e. Solari), whilst getting rid of cookies from predatory sites (i.e. corporate news, multinational companies &tc). In Opera browser, it’s in “Settings” under “Privacy & Security”, then “Cookies and other site data” (click the arrow on the right), then scroll down to “See all site data and permissions” (click the arrow on the right). They’re listed individually by name, most visited or data stored, click the trashcan icon to delete. Other browsers will have similar menu options that can be figured out by looking in Settings for “cookies” and “permissions”.Hope you find that useful 🙂
Any recommendation on replacing Microsoft products – Word, Excel, etc.? Hopefully free ones? Thanks!
I really like the Open Office suite. It’s free, open-source and really easy to learn if you already know Word, Excel &tc.
I hear Libre Office is similar, but OO does everything I want it to do reliably, so no point in moving to Libre unless OO does something dodgy.
In last week’s “Ask Catherine” at time 21.55, a subscriber kindly submitted a NYT Magazine article from 1927 ‘War! Man’s Greatest Industry”.
I would very much like to read the article it but unfortunately the reprint is too small for me to read. Is there a link where I can download the article in PDF or read it on-line?
It’s here: https://www.nytimes.com/1927/03/13/archives/war-mans-greatest-industry-while-the-deliberations-for-disarmament.html
Is there any way to access the article without having to subscribe to the NYT?
Not sure is the Way back Machines archives the NYT, but might be worth a try. I often find copies on general searches.
NY Times Archive should have it.
That was me. I will rescan it again in smaller sections and will send again to the website.
