  1. I’d argue VPNs can be fine, you only need to trust the VPN provider more than you trust your Internet Service Provider. Only downside is that, yes, in some cases traffic can get blocked. (I personally can recommend Mullvad VPN, if I’m allowed to mention specific companies.)

  2. Sadly the Akaunting only offers cloud based – I will never put my and my customers financial information on a cloud.

  3. Would like to suggestions for routers! I cannot find any brands other than ones listed as NOT recommended. Recently I had to replace my router and the only consideration is for WI-FI, options for hard connection is getting near impossible to find. There was ONE available that had enough ports for my needs.

    1. Buy a dumb router. They are still out there. Also, have a firewall installed. It’s not too expensive but keeps out snoopers and can have hours your internet is shut down. Ours goes off all night.

    2. Please see our FAQ called Cybersecurity – What We Do that addresses router security. With any router, it’s very important to be sure they are up-to-date, for best security. There’s nothing inherently wrong with the listed routers, if they have the latest updates. The same is true when it comes to keeping your computer, phone, and apps up-to-date. If you need more port on your router, you can expand it easily with a network switch. Here’s a example.

  4. I am not a Linux fan because I don’t have any exposure to using the likes of the old Dos Screen. The ease of loading a new program and it working is still very technical for me…having said that we may put it on an old Dell we have. It’s also on another laptop that I used to use but the updates feature stopped and I have not resolved it due to time. My Mac is certainly harder to follow after Linux and Microsoft. If I find a local tech that will support Linux…I may smile and encourage my wife keep using it. If I fully understood Linux i’d flip in a minute!

    1. I just saw about a new laptop called AboveBook. It sells for $1,000. runs on Linux and has online classes and all questions answered.

        1. Regarding security, have a look at Purism. It has the Intel ME backdoor (which is present on all computers after ~2008) disabled. Additionally, it has kill switches for camera, mic, and wireless.

    2. Most likely the easiest method is to buy a machine with Linux preinstalled. Vendors include System 76, Purism, Malibal but also mainstream vendors such Dell and Lenovo sell certain Linux laptops.

  5. Texas Real-Estate Developer Giving Home Loans to Illegals to Create Cartel City – Headline USA

What do you think about this largest illegal alien settlement? They are loaning them money at sometimes 10% and they aren’t u.s. citizens with no credit score. What do you think the incentive is for giving these people these loans? Are these happening other places in America? Also why is it in a circular pattern? It looks like Burning Man’s circular pattern of a city so I thought it was curious.
