Our Movie of the Week is a collection of impressions of a mundane yet profoundly spiritual human activity—cleaning. Originally produced as an artistic advertising campaign by the Japanese company MUJI and selected for the Japan Media Arts Festival, this series of short films shot in 2019 brings the sounds and sights of cleaning activities by people from all over the world into aesthetic focus. Cleaning is not just a chore but can be a form of communication—a loving dialogue with the immediate world around us.
