The 2020 movie Nomadland by Chloé Zhao portrays the lives of “unsettled” Americans who dared to leave a “safe and organized” life behind for nomadic lives in RVs and vans—seeking a free and inspired life closer to nature. Featuring Frances McDormand as well as a number of real-life nomads, including Linda May, Swankie, and Bob Wells.

I loved the book and the movie. Prior to hearing about either, I happened to find a lot of youtube sites hosted by these very folks – the dwellers of Nomadland. Bob, the bearded guy in the film is the real guy, and he is like a wonderful, generous mentor for all of the newbies, and a friend of those like him who have been living the life for several years. They mostly are a very happy lot. Very interesting and appealing! I worry that the publicity may ruin the lifestyle, but maybe not.
