Beautiful concert! Even better with some Gluhwein 🙂
🙂
I spoke with my friend in Vienna yesterday and she told me how much the Christmas festivities in Vienna have changed in the last 18 years. Having enjoyed an incredible Vienna Christmas experience in 2000, attending concerts like this one, I returned in 2001 to more wonderful activities on each corner, Gluhwein booths, and friendly Austrians. Even Heidi stays out of the city now as the number of tourists have caused crowds that push, overcrowded trains and trams, and frustrated Austrians who have often lost their sense of humor. I know that when I went there last March, the disturbing number of migrant beggars overshadowed the wonderful interpretative changes that had been made in the wonderful renowned sites. Like every beautiful historical city, the people who have come to admire them often change them to lackluster experiences… unless you are able to get tickets to this symphony and choir accompany. Just marvelous.
I was there right before Christmas in 2012. It was absolutely beautiful. Standing in the cold at the Christmas markets, talking and drinking hot mulled wine all afternoon was the highpoint! And walking by the Lipizzaner facility and seeing the stallions too!
MERAVIGLIOSO !!
