“We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed… A few people cried… Most people were silent. I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture the Bhagavad Gita; Vishnu is trying to persuade the prince that he should do his duty, and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form, and says, “Now I am become death, the destroyer of worlds.” ~J. Robert Oppenheimer describing the initial reactions to the first nuclear bomb explosion
By Catherine Austin Fitts
Yesterday as I drove 500 miles across Texas and Arkansas on Interstates 30 and 40 to Tennessee, I listened to a history of US nuclear testing in Nevada.
The environmental risks that have been taken are mindboggling. Why would the United States intentionally risk destroying the ionosphere?
For the first time, I seriously contemplated that the reason that the Europeans have a space probe searching for habitable planets and the US has been building underground bases and leading a global spraying program is because nuclear tests have seriously threatened or destroyed the planet’s atmosphere.
Maybe the reason for the secrecy is if humans knew the truth, it would be impossible without extreme measures to ensure the safety of the leadership and their families. Maybe the reason for the ET stories at Area 51 is entertaining air cover up for the nuclear secrets emerging at the Nevada Test Site.
Recommendations for the best books on the history of nuclear testing and the scientifically proven impact on the planet are most welcome.

Radiation.org website has a list of books.

One book listed is: Deadly Deceit: Low-Level Radiation High Level Cover-Up Published in 1990 by Four Wall Eight Windows. Deadly Deceit discusses the importance of statistical estimates of excess numbers of deaths with regard to man-made radioactive pollution. Practical examples are given showing global effects from Chernobyl fallout in 1986, low-level radiation effects from nuclear bomb tests, and similar effects from nuclear power reactors. Read select chapters.
The only book I can think of is Planet Earth The Latest Weapon Of War by Rosalie Bertell. She also wrote No Immediate Danger which I haven’t read, but is described as a book about the dangers of radioactivity so it must touch on the results of testing. It’s been a while since I read the first one, but it talks about testing as well.
Sometimes in my bleaker moments (especially when contemplating the things you brought up in your post as well as other stuff) I imagine that the planet is in the thrall of beings (people? others?) who finally have the means to torture and murder not just people but a whole planet. and are proceeding gleefully.
Somehow, thinking that it might be the result of hubris and bungling is even worse, believe it or not. Laugh or scream – I do usually laugh… somehow.
Good point. I have Bertell’s Planet Earth. Very useful.
There have been over 20 nuclear bombs detonated in earth’s Thermosphere, many were over 1 megaton. Google Operation Fishbowl and Starfish Prime.

We hear a lot about finding a “cure for cancer”; let’s find out what is causing cancer.
Below is from : http://www.counterpunch.org/2010/12/22/baby-tooth-science/
The St. Louis tooth study, which had been largely forgotten for decades, experienced a rebirth in 2001. Washington University officials were startled to find hundreds of boxes of teeth not used in the study, stored in a remote ammunition bunker. Each tooth is contained in a small enveloped attached to a 3 x 5 card identifying the tooth and its donor. The school transferred the collection of about 85,000 teeth to the Radiation and Public Health Project (RPHP) research group, which was conducting its own study of Sr-90 in baby teeth near nuclear reactors.
RPHP officials recognized that these teeth could be used for a study of cancer risk of “Baby Boomers” now in their 40s and 50s. A sample of the 85,000 teeth was used to locate cancer survivors (through current addresses) and those who died of cancer (through official death records). In December 2010, the International Journal of Health Services published findings of the study, i.e. that “Boomers” born 1959-1961 who died of cancer had Sr-90 levels in their teeth more than twice (+122%) greater than those the same age who are alive and healthy. (13) While more research is needed to estimate casualties, it appears likely that the government figure of 15,000 U.S. cancer deaths from fallout is quite low
Wow. Thanks.
Hello Catherine- This is an interesting topic. My husband has just finished an excellent book – Command and Control- by Eric Schlosser. (also the author of Fast Food Nation- which I read)
Command and Control is an alarming account of how unsafe we are from our own doings.
Best regards,
